La magia de recorrerlas en este mar blanco ubicado a 4000msnm nos transportan a otro mundo .
Se trata de una de las más bellas extensiones blancas de la Argentina con esporádicas tonalidades turquesas y reflejos casi perfectos. El nombre de “grandes” es porque se trata del tercer salar más grande de Sudamérica con una extensión mayor a las 12 mil hectáreas a cielo abierto. Ubicadas a unos 190 kilómetros de la capital jujeña.
El origen de las Salinas Grandes, escasamente más pequeñas a las de Uyuni en Bolivia y las de Arizaro en Salta, se remonta a entre 5 y 10 millones de años, cuando la cuenca se cubrió por completo de aguas provenientes de un volcán.
La paulatina evaporación de este líquido y sus componentes, es lo que dio posterior forma a este salar que posee una costra cuyo espesor promedio es de 30 centímetros
